Water is the ‘transport system’ of the human body and we need to regularly replenish the water that is lost through normal bodily processes such as breathing, urination and perspiration. Moisture rich foods make up some of this daily loss. The World Health Organisation suggests daily water intake based on body weight. The WHO is also concerned that children drink plain water. Medical practitioners recommend that the average adult needs 8 to 10 glasses of water per day .
Water from different sources may have different minerals and levels of acidity or alkalinity. Most town water is treated to bring it to a neutral pH of around 7. Rain water can be neutral or acid - below 7.
